Wanda Commercial Planning and Research drew inspiration from the organic combination of the third Wanda indoor pedestrian street and commercial building. The project has been upgraded in terms of scene innovation, technology innovation, and content innovation, adding tourism, culture, social interaction, and lifestyle functions. The design reflects the Wanda culture philosophy of youth, growth, inclusivity, and future, permeating more aspects of the Wanda community.
The unique properties of the Longgang Wanda Plaza set it apart from other commercial spaces. It has been upgraded in three aspects: scene innovation, technology innovation, and content innovation. The design focuses on three core themes: ecological nature, fashion tech, and humanistic art. A significant 82 percent of the activities in the plaza are experiential commercial activities.
The realization of this project involved the use of various technological interaction equipment to match colors, materials, and lights. The design team employed sound, light, and electricity to link different scenes. The project features the world's highest 30m commercial LED staircases, a 2500 square meter LED star screen, a 7m diameter gigantic suspended LED curved screen, and a 77.77m glass suspended road composed of photoelectric glass and a curved special structure.
The main feature of the Longgang Wanda Plaza is its positioning as a micro-trip super destination. This is a city culture-oriented short-distance intercity trip, a departure from the traditional scene and relaxation-oriented long-distance trips. The experiential commercial activities, including a 1500 square meter atrium with a gigantic 2500 square meter screen, 30m commercial indoor staircases, and other world-class views, make up 82 percent of all activities.
The project faced several design challenges, including integrating the indoor decoration with the existing architectural structure. The upgrades of the big atrium structural space, the design of 30m staircases, the suspended structure between the 4 glass bridges, and the lateral plates and design effect of staircases and pavilions in the dreamland required the cooperation and discussion of designers and structural engineers.
The Shenzhen Longgang Wanda Plaza was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is granted to marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom. They are venerated products and bright ideas that advance art, science, design, and technology, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
